The Risks & Benefits of Counselling at Dive Into Self
Counselling enables one to attend to and manage concerns that they came in with. The counsellor and the counselling environment will invite you to verbalize and share your deepest concerns while coming to an eventual shift in perspective.
The counselling process involves exploring uncomfortable and distressing feelings such as sadness, anger, frustration, or guilt when sharing your concerns.
It may lead you to come in contact with vulnerable and hidden parts of yourself.
At the same time, it may also lead to a greater understanding of your inner processes and patterns.
One of the things to keep in mind with counselling is that, it will not provide an instant cure or easy solution to concerns. However, if conditions arise that make it difficult to bear the discomfort, the counsellor will hold space for the discomfort and frustration. However, in case there is a mismatch of interests, or if the nature of concerns is beyond the scope of the alloted counsellor’s current expertise, you will be redirected to a more appropriate therapist.
